Cook (PT), Chapel of Our Savior, Brockton, MA

JOB PURPOSE: This is a part-time position, 15 to 18 hours a week at the parish in Brockton. The cook has a strong understanding of various cuisines and dietary requirements and will be responsible for planning and preparing daily meals and ensuring high-quality and nutritious food for the Friars. The cook will do the grocery shopping, prepare meals in the Friars’ kitchen, and store them for later consumption.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to the preferences and dietary requirements of the household members.
• Create diverse and nutritious menus that accommodate special dietary needs, such as vegetarian, gluten-free, or allergen-free diets.

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including proper food storage, cleaning of kitchen appliances, and sanitation of cooking surfaces.
• Shop for groceries and kitchen supplies as needed, ensuring freshness and quality of ingredients.
• Monitor inventory levels of pantry staples and kitchen supplies and create shopping lists accordingly.
• Collaborate with household members to plan special events or gatherings and prepare and serve meals for these occasions.
• Always adhere to food safety standards and regulations at all times to ensure safe handling and preparation of food.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience as a cook in a household or similar setting.
• Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques.
• Ability to create diverse and nutritious menus while accommodating dietary restrictions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high food quality standards and presentation.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with household members.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
