Business Manager (PT), St. Isidore, Lakeville, Middleboro, Rochester, MA
St. Isidore Parish in Lakeville-Middleboro-Rochester is currently looking for a part-time Business Manager to join their team. The Business Manager assists the Pastor in fulfilling his responsibility of ensuring proper stewardship of the financial and personnel resources of the parish. For this position, the business manager would need to work at the parish office three days per week for a total of 24 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Management
Consistent with parish financial reporting requirements, prepare budgets, annual reports, interim reports, general ledgers, allocation summaries, and other management reports,
Oversee the management of parish financial records and prepare for audits.
Manages bookkeeping functions including, but not limited to, payables, receivables, journal entries, and payroll.
Handle bank relations including management of accounts, reconciliations, and allocation transactions pertaining to the parish and cemetery.
Assist the Pastor in the administration of offertory enhancement programs, fundraising for special parish projects, the yearly Grand Annual and Catholic Appeal.
Direct purchasing procedures within the dollar limits set by the Pastor.
Ensure that all federal, state, and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain Cemetery financial records and bank account, providing periodic reports to the Pastor and Finance Council.
Reconcile monthly bank statements in a timely manner.
Handle vendors, supplies, and bills payment in a timely manner
Offer financial strategies and recommendations to the Pastor and Finance Council, as applicable.
In consultation with the Pastor and Finance Council, implement Archdiocesan finance policies and guidelines.
Give a bi-monthly summary update (with numbers) to the pastor on the financial health of the parish.
Personnel Management
Implement Archdiocesan human resource and personnel policies, including benefit policies, for staff.
Responsible for receiving and addressing parish staff concerns.
Manage the payment of salaries and benefits.
General
Work in tandem with the facilities manager.
Attend meetings relative to the role, as necessary, including parish finance & pastoral councils, archdiocesan business managers meetings, etc.
Other duties as assigned by the pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in business, accounting, or related field, with 7+ years related accounting experience or equivalent preferred.
Understand and support the mission of the Catholic Church and her efforts.
Ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate and to handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion required.
Demonstrated experience in finance and accounting; QuickBooks or Intacct experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology skills; must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Experience administering payroll is preferred.
Ability to work well with others including staff, volunteers & vendors.
Must have excellent time management skills.
Must have Strong oral and written communication skills.
A strong service orientation is critical.
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
