The celebration of Veterans Day is an important moment for us to pause and express our sincere gratitude to those who have served honorably in defense of our nation and its liberties. It is also a day of prayer. A day of prayer for the healing of wounds, the consolation of losses, and the uplifting of spirits through the companionship of comrades and the gratitude of a grateful nation.
This year, we also give special thanks for the Archdiocese’s priest chaplains, who minister with faith and compassion to those serving in the Armed Forces and to Veterans in our communities. Their pastoral presence is a sign of the Church’s enduring care for all who have borne the burdens of military service. Through the intercession of Saint Martin of Tours, Saint Sebastian, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and all the soldier saints, may God bless our Veterans, and all who stand guard today in our Armed Forces, with peace, protection, and the assurance of our prayers.”
